When the teams showed up for their games on Saturday morning the were greeted by purple bases, lines and this on the infield grass:

As the day went along, each team member was issues a purple wrist band to show Erin our support in the fight to get better.

Every player in Maywood will continue to wear the purple to support Erin and her family for the rest of the season.

The homemade Mozzarella and Cannoli were a big hit with several anxiuos customers competing for the last morsels! Perhaps an encore this weekend? We'll see!
As the Maywood Travel teams took the field for their games at home and away, they wore the purple wristbands with pride to continue the message of support started the day before.

The first purple wrist bands were handed out during the Gas House Gorillas and Knights game on the Big Diamond Friday. The bases were painted purple and the base lines were white and purple. Before the game, both teams doned their wrist bands and together they cheered 1-2-3 ERIN!

Wednesday 05/09
As you may be aware, Maywood resident Erin Kelly is fighting an infection in Hackensack Hospital. She has a tough road ahead, and will be in the hospital and rehabilitation center for an extended period, but the doctors are optimistic that she will make a full recovery.
She was a player in our baseball program for a number of years, before making the jump to softball. She is currently a sophomore at Hackensack’s HS, and the starting Third Baseman on their Softball Team.
To show our support for Erin, we are asking that each Maywood Baseball Player, wear 1 Purple (Erin’s favorite color) Wristband, at their games, both Rec and Travel for the remainder of the season. The bands will be provided to each team’s Manager prior to games this weekend. We want to show Erin and her family that they are not far from our thoughts, and hope that even a small gesture, such as this, will keep her spirits up.
For the next 2 weekends, we will paint our bases Purple, and pass a collection can around at each game, as well as keep a can at our Concession Stand, in Memorial Park. Whatever is collected will be presented to the Kelly family in the form of a Gift Card, so that Erin can do with as she wishes.
If you can help contribute in any way, that would be fantastic, but at the very least please keep Erin and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
The Managers, Coaches, Volunteers and Parents of Maywood Baseball
